How we select the Top100
In order to qualify for the Top 100 Mid-Sized Companies, a company must meet the following criteria:
- Should have a four-year average turnover of TZS 1 billion–TZS 20billion. The years under review in this survey will be 2018, 2019, 2020, and 2021.
- If a company has participated in the Top100 competition before and has had a turnover of over TZS 20 billion in any of the years in review, they are eligible for consideration to join club101. Please note that a company should not participate if they have been recognised as a Club 101 company before.
- Should not be listed in the Dar es Salaam Stock Exchange.
- Banks, professional services firms (such as law, accounting, and audit firms), SACCOS, and insurance companies are excluded from participation.
The Top 100 Mid-Sized Companies are selected from all participating companies on the basis of their revenue growth over the past three years, profits, liquidity and other measures of financial solidity.

Even if you do not make it to the list of Top 100 Mid-Sized Companies, it is worthwhile to participate in the survey. Benefits for all participating companies that meet the qualification criteria include the following:

- Company profile – A profile of your company in a special supplement of the Citizen Newspaper. The profiles of the Top 20 ranked companies will also feature personal interviews.
- Top100 Club – Your company will be able to use the Tanzania Top 100 Mid-Sized Companies Club Logo in letterheads, branding, collateral and outreach. Past participants have overwhelmingly confirmed that this logo does attract business.
- Top100 Market Place – Your company will have access to an exclusive Top100 Companies Marketplace online platform.

Confidentiality
Participating in the survey requires you to submit financial information. None of the confidential information you submit about your company will be shared or published.
There are only two parties who will have access to the information you submit: KPMG and the Top 100 survey partner, ZA Advisory. Both parties are bound by strict privacy laws and tight ethical guidelines for their industries. After completion of the survey and all reports, the research partner will destroy all records of the survey and only KPMG will retain your information to be able to invite you for future events and future editions of the Top 100 Mid-Sized Companies Survey.
All other stakeholders in this survey (including yourself) will receive a high level report. This report will NOT make reference to a specific company. Shared or published information may
include averages, medians and extreme values of growth rates, employment, productivity measures or similar measures.
